New reviews: Izze Sparkling Juice, Jackie Greene, & Bikini At Home Groomer

I've posted several new reviews for Amazon Vine! Last month, I found a great new musical artist to enjoy, was refreshed by a sparkling fruit juice, and tried my hand at cordless bikini grooming...

Reviews: Harmony One Remote & Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara

I received two new products in January to review for Amazon Vine. I liked both a lot, although each had some room for improvement. Still, if I had purchased these myself, I wouldn't feel as if my money were wasted, so that is good. In fact, I would buy both of these myself.

The first item is the Logitech Harmony One Remote control. I have a previous model, the Logitech Harmony 880 Remote, and loved it, so I fully expected to enjoy the Harmony One. I was not disappointed. Read the review to see how I liked the Harmony One.

I've used Loreal's Lash Out mascara for years, but am always eager to try a new mascara if it means longer, thicker lashes. I had some disappointment with the tube for this one, but liked the formula and the brush enough that I will purchase this when I need more mascara. Read my review to see what I thought of Revlon's 3D Extreme Mascara.

And, as always, here are links to my all of reviews for Amazon Vine:

Have a wonderful night!

No more Pussy Massagers at Wal-Mart?

Wal-Mart carries Animal Massagers every year at Christmas, and for a number of years that has included a cat-shaped animal massager, at least in the stores around Nashville.

Of course, the first time I saw one of these I was with a couple of friends and when we saw it we all looked at each other and immediately bust a gut laughing, OBVIOUSLY thinking the same thing: what else can you call a cat-shaped animal massager but a 'pussy massager'!!!!

Sadly, none of the Wal-Marts I've been to this year have the Pussy Massager. They have Frog, Dog, and Penguin Massagers, but there isn't anything particularly funny about any of those... Lucky for me, a good friend bought me one last year while Wally World still carried Pussy Massagers. I use it on my feet... LOL

My 3 favorite book accessories...

I'm a fool for a nifty gadget. I come by it honestly - my Grandpa is an even bigger fool than I am for them. Of course, we both find some pretty cool stuff, too... We won't talk about that hard boiled egg sheller Grandpa bought everyone one year... LOL

Being an obsessive reader, it stands to reason I'd be attracted to anything that makes reading easier or better, right? Right.

My current top 3 accessories for print books:

PageKeeper: http://www.pagekeeper.ca/
I bought this at a Books a Million store in the Nashville area. You clip it on your book, and a little wire arm marks your page for you, but still allows pages to be easily turned. But if you fall asleep while reading, the book clothes to where the PageKeeper marked your page last, which should be the spot you are currently reading.

Gimble: http://www.gimbleuk.com/
The Gimble fits around your paperback book and holds the book open while you read it. You can set it on the table and read completely hands free (except for page-turning, of course) or hold it. Holding the book with the Gimble requires less tension in the arm to keep the book open. I worried that page-turning would be a pain with this one, but it isn't. The package I bought at Books a Million came with 2 - one to fit mass market paperbacks and a larger one for trade paperbacks.

Rayovac Pillow Light: http://www.amazon.com/Rayovac-Reading-Pillow-Light-Colors/dp/B000FKHJ86/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-3271163-2819132?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1175447894&sr=8-1
I can't tell you how many book lights I've gone through until I bought this one. They were all either too flimsy, too heavy, not bright enough, etc., etc. This one sits on the pillow and shines on your book. The base is weighted like a bean bag, and shifts to accomodate the surface you've set it on. The light itself can be rotated to hit the book just right. It takes 4 AA batteries, a relief from those book lights that require specialty batteries. I think I've had this one a year now and haven't tired of it yet.

Logitech Harmony 880 Remote

Two of my TiVo remotes were finally wearing out. Some of the buttons on them didn't work so well anymore, and it was time to replace them. But I decided not to buy another TiVo remote. Nope, I went for the Logitech Harmony 880 Remote. Yeah, baby!

This one remote can control up to 15 devices, which means I can and have configured it for all the remote-controlled devices in my home - all the tvs, TiVos, DVD players, Cable Boxes, and even the surround sound box thing. I have to say, this is sooooo nice! Plus, it is rechargeable, which means no digging for batteries when it all of a sudden runs out.

You connect it to your PC with a USB cable to program it, and it is a snap. If you have the model numbers for your devices, which are usually found somewhere on the device itself, then it is a real no-brainer. Logitech had all of the devices I gave the setup program model numbers for in their database, and it was very quick to set those up. I had one TV that I couldn't find the model number for, so I just gave the manufacturer name, and it asked me if I had the remote for that device. I did, so it asked me to push a few specific buttons on the device so it could learn it, and it had figured out the best model match for that TV within 1 minute.

I love the remote, and so far I think I'll be fine with just having the one, since it is rare I'll be watching TV in more than one room at a time - LOL. Plus, I still have the original remotes that I'll tuck away for emergency use. I won't be at all surprised if I decide to get another Harmony sometime in the future, though.

You can get all the details for the Logitech Harmony Remotes at their website. This is the model I got: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/detailsharmony/US/EN,CRID=2084,CONTENTID=9933.

The best price I found for the Harmony 880 was at Amazon.com. It is currently about $155 there, and has a $30 rebate offer with it. Couple that with my Amazon Prime membership, which affords me free 2-day shipping, and I am a very happy camper!

If a man wanted to get lucky...

All he would have to do is buy a woman a Dyson vaccuum, I'm convinced of it. If she can't give it up to him, I daresay she'd find a woman who could...

I did it. I bit the bullet and finally replaced my old vaccuum. It was on its last legs and took about 4 times as long to vaccuum as it should, didn't work well even after working that long, and left me needing a professional massage.

I bought a Dyson DC15 Animal. It came yesterday and I vaccuumed last night. This thing is worth every penny I paid and then some. I vaccuumed every carpeted room in my home last night in an hour, with the exception of the staircases. Now, I didn't move furniture or anything, I just vaccuumed the main areas, but it was 10:30 PM when I started, so I wasn't into a heavy cleaning, just wanted to see how well it did.

I found a whole darned cat apparently hiding in my carpet. That's how much cat hair it pulled up, and I just vaccuumed a week ago. I shudder to think what it would have looked like if I had not steam-cleaned the carpets in the last 6 months.

It was so easy to move, and it took so much less work to do 10 times better than the old vaccuum. It's a bagless, beltless unit with a lifetime filter that just needs to be washed every 6 months, so that saves some cost right there in the long run. The waste bin where the debris is collected is easy to empty - much easier than a vaccuum bag!

I'm going to quite my job and do infomercials for Dyson, I think. I love it that much.
