Songs for everyone for Valentine's Day (free MP3 from Amazon!)

Amazon.com is giving a free download of Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On' only on Friday (2/13/09) and Saturday (2/14/09) in honor of Valentine's Day! Click the link to access the free download: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NTNJD2?tag=jenaraysweb-20.

And for those of us less lucky in love this Valentine's Day, enjoy the ultimate break-up song of all time, by Weird Al Yankovic. It's twisted and wrong, but it never fails to make me laugh, even on the heels of a fresh break-up. You have to love the sappy way Weird Al sings all these vile things... LOL

Sorry, no free download on this one, but you can watch the video at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAXutCG2h9E.

It's a lot better if you know the lyrics:

One More Minute
Weird Al Yankovic

Aahh....

Well I heard that you're leavin' (leavin')
Gonna leave me far behind (so far behind)
'Cause you found a brand new lover
You decided that I'm not your kind (aahh..)

So I pulled (I pulled) your name out (name out) of my Rolodex (oohh..)
And I tore all your pictures in two
And I burned down the malt shop where we used to go
Just because it reminds me of you (dippity dippity doo)

That's right (that's right) you ain't gonna see me cryin'
I'm glad (I'm glad) that you found somebody new
'Cause I'd rather spend eternity eating shards of broken glass
Than spend one more minute with you

I guess I might seem kinda bitter
You got me feeling down in the dumps
'Cause I'm stranded all alone in the gas station of love
And I have to use the self-service pumps

Oh, so honey, let me help you with that suitcase
You ain't (you ain't) gonna break my heart in two
'Cause I'd rather get a hundred thousand paper cuts on my face
Than spend one more minute with you

I'd rather rip out my intestines with a fork
Than watch you going out with other men
I'd rather slam my fingers in a door (yah)
Again and again and again and again and again

Oh, can't you see what I'm tryin' to say, Darlin...

I'd rather have my blood sucked out by leeches (leeches)
Shove an icepick under a toenail or two
I'd rather clean all the bathrooms in Grand Central Station with my tongue
Than spend one more minute with you

Yes, I'd rather jump naked on a huge pile of thumbtacks
Or stick my nostrils together with crazy glue
I'd rather dive into a swimming pool filled with double-edged razor blades
Than spend one more minute with you

I'd rather rip my heart right out of my ribcage with my bare hands
and then throw it on the floor and stomp on it 'till I die...
*Squeak!*
Than spend one more minute with you

When life hands you lemons...

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.

When it hands you ear worms, pass them along to your friends! LOL

I saw ISAAC at Harris Teeter!!!

OK, so maybe it was a cardboard cutout of him promoting a luggage contest...

STILL. I was very surprised to see our very own Love Boat bartender being used in advertising today, in full cruise ship uniform, no less!

And I've been singing that theme song ever since I saw it a couple of hours ago.

Oh, watch the guest stars closely in the video. Yep, that IS sweet little Kim Richards you see there, aka Paris Hilton's aunt. Who knew that the precious little girl who played Tia on the Witch Mountain movies would ever be related to something like Paris...

Baby Got Back - A Folk Rendition

OK, this sounds wrong, but this guy actually performs it really well. I never before thought of this song as a folk tune! LOL

Totally wrong. TWISTED. But funny as hell!

This is Jimmy Kimmel's response to her:

My PDA/Phone Screensaver

My new iPaq PDA/Phone came with an HP Photo program that has a built-in screensaver. All I have to do is point the program to a directory on my iPaq or a storage card inserted in the device, and it will display all of the pictures it finds in that directory as a screensaver.

Currently, I am greatly enjoying a variety of favorite book covers. Of course, I add new covers to this screensaver every day, but with more than a gigabyte of storage still available, I have no need to remove any yet. Which makes me very, very happy...

I've read or will read all of the books in this screensaver, and seeing their cover here never fails to bring a smile to my face. It doesn't hurt that there are some really great books in this collection either. *grin*

Wanna see it? I recorded a video of it on my PC so I could share it... There is no sound, just the pictures. Enjoy!

80’s Music Videos & Stars Before They Were Stars

I love watching old 80's music videos. Not only to reminisce, but it is really neat to catch stars before they were stars acting in these videos!

It was just a few years ago that I saw Bryan Adam's video for 'Summer of '69' again and realized that actress Lysette Anthony starred in it!

And just the other day I looked up the old Kenny Loggins video for 'I'm Free' and realized that Virginia Madsen played Kenny's love interest in that one...

Who could forget that Courtney Cox was the dancer that Bruce Springsteen pulled up on stage in his video for 'Dancing in the Dark'?

Let me know what videos you guys have caught stars before they were stars in!

Trojan Tales

These videos are hysterical!!! In Mystery Science Theater 3000 fashion, they've taken an old movie, dubbed new lines, and made a twisted, but funny story from them. Pay attention to their names, and watch the videos in order. Also, there is no nudity, but there is some sexual content in the dialogue, so it would be best to watch these at home, and away from children's ears and eyes... Unless of course, you are ready to have that 'talk'! LOL

Enjoy!

Book Trailers, Website Changes and Contest Info

Well, I made some changes to my website . I took away the weather box thing on my front page. I never really liked it there, but I needed something to fill that space, so it stayed until I could think of something better. I mean, really. Who thinks, "I wonder what the weather is like for Jennifer right now?" Yup. No one. LOL Unless of course they are on their way to Nashville to visit me...

So Lucy Monroe has this great new book trailer out for her upcoming release, Deal With This. And she's encouraging friends and fans to post it on their websites, blogs, wherever. I loved the idea.

So, from now on, the weather box thing is vamoose and that spot on the front page of my website will be where I will feature a book trailer from a favorite author, kicking things off with Lucy's, of course! Go watch it on my website and at the end, you'll be presented with the code that you can paste into your own site or blog if you want to show it on your own place on the web.

What about the contest, you ask? Well, the fabulous, NY Times best selling author Lora Leigh has a wonderful contest on her website right now with 3 prizes to some very lucky people! Go to her site for details on how to enter, but I've posted the prize list for you below so you'll know just how badly you want to win this one!

**************************************************************************
First prize: A Longaberger basket with goodies and an ARC of Dawn's Awakening
Second Prize: A Longaberger basket and the winner's choice of any print book that Lora has.
Third prize: A gorgeous sterling silver lion's head charm and necklace.

Songs that always cheer us!

My iPod loves me, it's very obvious to see. It just decided to play one of my all-time feel great songs - Bare Necessities from Disney's movie The Jungle Book.

Doesn't matter what kind of mood I'm in, I can't help but smile and wiggle around when I hear this one!

And since I was taught to share... I would love you to post what your favorite feel-great songs are!

Lyrics

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life

Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
So just try and relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my backyard'
Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You're working too hard

And don't spend your time lookin' around
For something you want that can't be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin' about it
I'll tell you something true

The bare necessities of life will come to you

Return to Pooh Corner

Loggins & Messina has been a favorite band of mine as far back as my memory goes. Their hits House at Pooh Corner and Return to Pooh Corner have always brought me a sense of peace and calm. Return to Pooh Corner just came on my iPod and I had to share it with you all... The lyrics are posted below the video, just in case you've got the urge to sing along. I always do!

Enjoy!

Return to Pooh Corner
Kenny Loggins

Christopher Robin and I walked along
Under branches lit up by the moon
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore
As our days disappeared all too soon
But I've wandered much further today than I should
And I can't seem to find my way back to the Wood

So help me if you can
I've got to get back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
You'd be surprised
There's so much to be done
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh

Winnie the Pooh doesn't know what to do
Got a honey jar stuck on his nose
He came to me asking help and advice
And from here no one knows where he goes
So I sent him to ask of the Owl if he's there
How to loosen a jar from the nose of a bear

It's hard to explain how a few precious things
Seem to follow throughout all our lives
After all's said and done I was watching my son
Sleeping there with my bear by his side
So I tucked him in, I kissed him and as I was going
I swear that the old bear whispered
"Boy welcome home"

Believe me if you can
I've finally come back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
What do you know
There's so much to be done
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin
Back to the ways of Christopher Robin
Back to the days of Pooh

Angry Alien bunny movie re-enactments - hilarious!

I absolutely LOVE Angry Alien movies! The premise is simple: popular movies re-enacted in 30 seconds or less, by bunnies. The results are hilarious!

My favorites include:

I've posted Jaws below for your viewing enjoyment... Go to the Angry Alien site to view more movies!

Hysterical! ’George Lucas in Love’

This never fails to crack me up! 'George Lucas in Love' is a student film whose premise is based on George Lucas in his college days trying to write a screenplay that would eventually become 'Star Wars'. In this film, student George finds inspiration in everything around him. Watch every detail closely, especially the background... LOL

Today, I learned what a ’Bald Monkey’ is...

And subsequent to that, I started hearing the Beastie Boys in my head singing 'Bald Monkey' to the tune of their hit Brass Monkey.

Don't know what a Bald Monkey is? Think Brazilian.

And now, for your listening enjoyment...

U & Ur Hand

I saw P!nk on Ellen yesterday and LOVED the song she performed! And it struck me that I've actually heard and loved several of her songs. I need to go order some of her CDs...

She reminds me of Pat Benatar: Powerful presence, amazing vocals, lots of attitude and a 'you can't hold me back' rebelliousness. The songs are pretty dang good too.
