I'll admit it - I am spoiled rotten. At least I am when it comes to amenities like having electricity.
Last night my power went out. At 1 AM, it still wasn't on. Actually, it was off for at least my entire apartment complex, if not the neighborhood, because there was nary a light to be seen in any of my neighboring apartments, the streetlamps, etc. Discomfort and worry had me tossing and turning the rest of the night.
I worried that I wouldn't wake in the morning, that my alarm wouldn't work or that the clock's time would be off when the power came on again. Oh, and then there is the nifty little fact that I wouldn't be able to easily get my car out of the garage without power. See, there is a way to open it manually, but there are two doohickies that have to be maneuvered simultaneously and they are so far apart that it requires two people to do it. Whose bright idea was that, I wonder?
I opened a window in the bedroom to try and get some ventilation going, but there was no breeze last night, of course. Then I thought I would just use a floor fan. Guess what? Those need electricity too! Duh. LOL It's funny the 'solutions' you think of before you realize they all need power as well.
I finally emailed a coworker from my cell phone and asked her to call me when she got in this morning. She arrives an hour earlier than I do, and thank goodness she did call because sure enough my alarm clock time was way off when she called, even though the power was back on by then.
I have got to remember to get a new 9-volt batter when I go to the store tomorrow...
