I was looking for a book I wanted to read last night. Couldn't find it. It didn't help that my book collection has become woefully unorganized in the past few months.
What used to be a beautifully arranged collection spanning six bookcases had become piles of books that had little organization to them. Well, the originally placed books still were in place, but new books had been stacked in front of those tidy little stacks, and some books were in boxes scattered around my home, waiting for their own place on the bookshelves.
So the inability to find that ONE book I wanted last night launched a manic reorganization job. I've been meaning to do it for some time, but other things always seemed more important.
I worked on it last night some, this morning more and then had to stop to do some work for my job. My living room floor was literally covered in books while I had the piled in groups by alphabet all over the floor, tackling one letter at a time.
Finally, I am done. Unfortunately, I now have to stack them two layers deep on the shelves in places, but that's OK. I can still find them now. And I have photos for posterity.
My romance novels that are not anthologies are in two bookcases.
My romance anthologies are in one shorter bookcase. Oh, and the bottom left corner has a few nonfiction books like puzzle books, mindteasers, dictionaries, etc.
I have a bookcase in the guest bedroom that has my classics like William Shakespeare, Brothers Grimm, Mythology, etc. It also has mystery, humor, autobiorgraphies, and a hodge-podge of other genres. I also put a few romance authors here since I had a lot of books by Brenda Joyce and Bertrice Small and didn't have room on the romance bookcases for them. Oh, and one shelf has two little stacks of books I've borrowed from a friend. I have GOT to read those and get them back to her.
This bookcase is just fantasy, sci-fi and horror.
Last but not least, I have one bookcase with just cookbooks. I'm considering moving those to a rubbermaid container in the garage, though. I've already done that with my computer books.
